You know I've sometimes thought about this question when I'd see homeless people.

I guess they survive on eating out of dumpsters, garbage cans, or dontations. They probably find some dark alley to sleep in, where they can avoid the cold wind. Every day is probably spent trying to get a few dollars to buy some booze or maybe even just something to eat.

Kinda crazy when you think about it. How fortunate we are able to eat and go on our computer.

some do not, as they die from exposure to the cold, some from homeless shelters and some from stealing from others. there are some good honest ones and like all walks of life there are bad ones. The ones impersonating homeless is what gets me they use there children to beg for money are stand there with a sign and are not really homeless and are scamming people. some live off waste deposed of in dumpsters. It's really sad because the number of legimate homeless people are on the rise

It's a full time job. You have to know all the spots where you're allowed to relieve yourself, grab a meal, panhandle for your addiction, where you can sleep and what the time limits are. Mental illness is a sad horrible thing.

It doesn't help when you have a hospital dumping patients onto skid row, sometimes without even confirmingwhether there is family that would have come and gotten them. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=128225753

Yes, there are plenty who abuse the system. I once met a man who comes up from a nearby city to deal drugs and he uses the local homeless shelter like it's a free hotel. There are people having children and bringing them along on this lifestyle. I never give to panhandlers. But most are to be pitied.

a lot make use of shelters and other places where they can get medicine, a hot meal, clothing, and also short-term shelter. Plenty cities have created these opportunities. However, several of them encourage the homeless to find work, become sober or drug-free so that they can fend for themselves.

So Sad, When are we Going to wake up and put an end to this tragidy, How is it possible we can spend millions of dollars On selected athletes to train for olympics, PLAYING A GAME for god sakes,Then we have crooked Politions stuffing there pockets and people who will exploit anything they can get there hands on.
We pay entertainers and pro athletes a fortune, Like there gods but in reality what they do is so absolutly Irrelevent Its mind boggling
We have teachers and nurses, and social workers who are the foundation of our society and we hardly acknowledge them.
Its all so sick, our priorities are truly a mess.
Abolish the olympics, spend the money On the homeless.
Cap jobs that are irrelevent, we need to get our priorities straight.
and no I am not communist if thats what you may think.
I am just sick of the irrelevency while our fellow humans suffer.
Cool, I feel better hehehe

With difficulty. Many are mentally ill. The states have closed mental institutions and just thrown these people on the street. Generous donations to homeless shelters help to feed many, many people donate clothes and some food. In some states they can get food stamps and health care. I think general assistance has even been offered in some areas. Some turn to crime to support alcohol or drug problems, or just to support themselves.

WHO CARES?!! Over 95% of homeless (unless they are mothers with kids and are victims of domestic abuse) are drug addicts, alcoholics or are crazy (or a combination of those). They need help, but do not want it. Do not feed, cloth or house them or give them money - Bleeding heart do-gooders who do such things are simply enabling them to continue towards their inevitable path of self-destruction that will eventually be paid for by your tax dollars...
