I have seen a number of replies defending Kramer actions by referring to the fact that minorities make fun of white people so why can't white people reciprocate? The simple answer is the alleged hypocrisy is a justified byproduct of centuries of oppression by a portion of whites upon minorities in America. What imagery is relate to the word cracker?, What kind of emotion is really stirred when a white person is called peckerwood? The answer may be debate table, but the range in the debate is mild to nothing. On the other hand, the word "n-gg--" invokes imagery of slavery, lynching, and jim crow laws. Is Kramer racist? Who knows, Who cares. He is guilty of being unfunny, dumb, and insensitive.

I don't personally believe that Michael Richards ("Kramer") is racist. He obviously said some very offensive stuff which I don't condone, but he had been heckled by these guys and Michael just lost it. He obviously wanted to get back at them hard, so instead of just cursing at them he said the worst thing that came into his head, which were racist comments including the "n" word. I don't think he actually meant what he was saying, he just thought "what's the worst thing I can say to these hecklers to p**s them off?"

Is he a racist? Hard to say, the reports I've seen indicate that the gentlemen he was addressing during his "meltdown" had been disruptive during his set. Its interesting that he doesn't find another way to decompress the issue, instead he immediately appears to go with what he is probably thinking in the back of his mind...Stupid N****R is ruining my show.

That being said, I think everyone is racist deep down. We all have preconceived notions about groups of people. I have a good friend that no one would ever consider racist. He's just a genuine all around nice guy, and I've never heard him say a bad thing about anyone. Once in college his girlfriend has a party, she goes to change the music and notices that alot of her CD's are missing. We start looking around and notice a group of guys has just left. We follow them out in the street and ask if they saw the CD's. The one black guy there reaches in his coat and pulls out the CD's and says, "Sorry man", hands back the cd's and keeps walking. My friends response as we walk back into the house....."F*****g N****r!". Sorry for the long story but thats my example of how everyone and I mean everyone is racist when it comes down to it.

Of course minorities can't be racist, only whites get the honor of holding that distinction.

Why is this on the news? If Carlos Mencia or Chris Rock called white heckers crackers it wouldnt make a local newspaper! Have any of you been to a comedy club? they say n.gar all the time, talk about drugs, whores, and obscene sexual remarks. The only reason this is a big deal is because Kramer is white THATS RACIST

After seeing the club footage, the apology footage, and Sinbad's comment footage, I am convinced, you can not not be racist and go off like that, it was too deep, to real, he is racist in my opinion, not to mention unprofessional. He is (was) getting paid to entertain, and should have NOT lost his cool, especially in a racial way! The guys in the balcony didn't evoke racial rage, so where did it come from? You know...........

As for other comedians using racial epitaphs and monologue, they do it in a comedian way, to get laughs, not in a rage as MR did. Again, this is MY opinion, expressed using RESPONSIBLE free speech.

Why don't we have the same reaction to politicians who are overtly racist?

Robert Byrd, a democrat senator in W. Virginia has used the "n" word on the senate floor. And he was a high ranking officer and recruiter for the KKK. I've never heard the media say one word against his obvious racism.

I'm not defending Michael Richards, but there's definitely a double standard going on here.

People say those types of things in comedy clubs all the time. Besides, he said he was sorry.

I'm sure he regrets it and we will probably see an apology soon. Not that those that egged him on to lose it like that are right in what they did. They should be banned from the nightclubs they cause this commotion in. It was just words, and it was words said to provoke this whole situation.

I dont know if he's racist, but I know if a black man said negative racial things about white people like, cracker, honkey, white devil or called you white people murdering slavedriving devils, you wouldnt be making a big deal about it and you know im right, cause it happens everyday.
