It's been done before in the Avengers/JLA crossovers and Amalgam...

The bottom line: DC seriously outclasses Marvel in terms of the power level of their heroes.

Marvel has cooler characters and interesting stories (i.e. the X-Men, Spider-Man, Daredevil, Fantastic Four etc) but people forget that Marvel's characters were introduced to make for more REALISTIC heroes, closer to sci-fi than fantasy, instead of DC's invincible archetypes.

The whole point of Spider-Man was to have a hero with flaws, with limits to his abilities and difficulties dealing with everyday life- a hero that more teenagers could identify with. The mutants of the marvel universe are limited, they all have ONE ability due to their specific genetic mutation... So Cyclops has optic beams but no super-speed, no above normal strength- the Iceman can create Ice but that's it, Colossus transmutes into a superstrong steel guy but that's his only transformation and so on... Quicksilver is fast, but not to a degree that throws physics out the window, while even Wally West, (the most toned down version of the Flash) is several times faster.

In DC, you have many characters that are literally off the charts- Superman, Captain Marvel, the Martian Manhunter and Orion are more powerful than almost all of Marvel's big guns. There's Thor who's a draw with ONE of them, but who matches up with the other three?

Hercules, the Thing and the Hulk have equal strength but can't fly, change shape, use telepathy or X-ray or heat vision, move at the speed of the god mercury, etc.

Marvel has Namor the Sub-Mariner while DC has Aquaman- they'd be evenly matched, except Aquaman can command all of the whales/sharks/giant squids in the area...

Marvel has the Silver Surfer, but DC has the Green Lantern - wait, there's a whole CORPs of those cosmic police whose power is limited only by the strength of their will...

The wasp can shrink down to an inch or so, but the Atom can go microscopic! DC's whole cast of characters is fundamentally less bound by the limits of reason.

Then you've got Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Power Girl etc - all on the DC side. Nitey Nite, She-Hulk...

Reed Richards can stretch himself to fit under a door, create a parachute for his teammates etc but he's not ridiculously silly like Plastic Man.

Marvel has plenty of heroes at the Batman level, like Captain America, the Black Panther, Daredevil etc. and around the Spider-Man/Wolverine level- ones who have special powers beyond normal humans but not alien/god level... Even Iron Man's armor gets damaged when faced with formidable 21st-century technology, and it often malfunctions, runs out of juice, etc.

I'd say Dr. Strange and Dr. Fate are a push, but there's no answer in Marvel to the Spectre.

So the very thing that makes Marvel great reading is what makes them a poor matchup vs DC's characters- by and large, their characters were created to be more believable and less overpowered.

And don't even start with the villians... it just gets worse with Bizzaro, the Parasite and so on.

Dr. Light vs Magneto would be interesting, but Darkseid makes Thanos look like an apprentice.

I do like Marvel, and Marvel probably has the most popular assortment of characters, but DC rocks some of the more powerful heros in the comic book universe. With maybe the exception of The Dark Phoenix, there aren't many folks in the Marvel universe Wonder Woman and Superman couldn't easily flatten.

Again, DC has Superman. Nuff Said.

Even though I used to buy and read more Marvel books than DC I would have to say that DC would win.

Why?

Because there characters are JUST WAY TOO powerful for Marvel's characters.

Take the Justice League and/or the Legion of Super-Heroes (and NO, not that stupid cartoon version from the Kids WB). They would slaughter the Avengers and the X-Men combined.

you might as well say captain america vs. DC.

See captain america has the unwritten power by jack kirby and stan lee that he NEVER loses.

realistically though marvel has characters like eternity and death that can just wipe dc out of existance with a thought.

even without them superman is no match for sentry (he has no mental powers)

Iron man and thor could wipe out a vast majority of the rest of the popular heroes.

Dr strange destroys dr. fate

silver surfer and the rest of galactus' heralds have enough power to destroy the dc universe alone.

And we aren't even getting to a character like gladiator of the sh'ar guard who is invulnerable. He is basically a cooler looking version of pre-crisis superman who has a mohawk and purple skin and no lame *** kryptonite weakness).

not to mention the in-betweener, the beyonder and master chaos and lord order who are the equivalent of death and eternity in another dimension (both omnipotent entities).

Marvel has gods and entities that could wipe dc out of existance with a thought. basically they have 4-6 entities each as powerfull as the mythical biblical god. DC has no chance.

I love Batman so very much.

But the X-Men and Spiderman are just too cool.. I think Marvel has more relatable and cooler heros. More interesting.

We'll make some new matchups, and just forget about how badly our favorite DC characters got stomped in the official Marvel/DC crossover Amalgam. So...

Batman VS Deadpool: Deadpool, too easy.
(We've allready seen Wolvie tear into the dark knight with no sweat broken. Deadpool's a good deal more capable than even the ol Canknuckle. Poor Bruce never had a chance here.)

Magneto VS Superman: Magneto, again too easy
(Recently, it was discovered that magnetic/electric charge resulting from solar flares are the basis for superman's powers. Master of magnetism? Superman would be wiser than to even bother trying here.)

Rogue VS Wonder Woman: Rogue
(Yeah, we've allready seen Storm turn WW into a sobbing sissy. Rogue's just overkill.)

Bane VS The Hulk: The Hulk
(Bane's superstrong, and that's nice... But Hulk's power is literally never ending. That means Bane gets in a few punches... Hulk gets angrier... Hulk breaks Bane in half and eats his costume.)

Elektra VS Catwoman: Elektra
(Last I checked, Catwoman ain't all that great at assassination. Nuff said.)

Clayface VS Carnage: Carnage
(The Symbiote would beat poor ol' Face into redrock. I highly doubt I'll see ANY disagreement)

Doomsday VS Juggernaut: Juggsta
(Doomsday's evolution doesn't quite work for the magical prowess of the Cytorrak Gem. So Juggs just dominates left and right with unstoppable movement and no fatigue)

Lex Luthor VS Kingpin: HAHAHAHAHA Kingpin, nuff said

Lobo VS Silver surfer: Silvie
(The Herald of GALACTUS against a space bounty hunter with regeneration? Um... yeah...I mean, we saw the pure annihilation poor Green Lantern went through.)

Ras al Ghul VS Apocalypse: Apoc
(Both immortality searchers... however, Apoc's kinda all powerfull and such. You know, the Gods tremble before me kinda crap. Ras is a step above a withered mummy.)

Scarecrow VS Vengence: Vengence
(The man who induces fear vs fear itself. Yeah... no contest.)

Steel III VS War Machine: War
(John Henry'd need MUCH more than a steel hammer to take on a vibranium laced battletank suit.)

I'm a bigger fan of DC than marvel, but when you put the two head to head, our boys just dont compete well. Marvel characters just kinda rock 'em all...
SO:
Ultimate final Battle:
Darksied and his Riders VS Galactus and his Heralds:
Yeah... like I said, Marvel Wins

The only DC pushers that'll argue any of this are those with little or no knowledge of the Marvel universe. I suspect we'll get many 'outclass' and 'overpower' answers by DC fans.
Much to my shame, they're dead wrong. Dead wrong. Darksied is pretty much DC's longstay force point and Ego, Galactus, Celestials, Apocalypse, Dark Phoenix could make him cry glowing lava lamp tears.
DC characters simply don't have the edge to match up with Marvel characters, per capita.
Or, if you wanna simple answer to throw out there....

Marvel would beat the DC @ss. Why?
CUZ THEY GOT THE JUGGERNAUT, *****!!!

(PS: lol if superman and wonderwoman kick so much @ss, why'd they get thrashed by Storm and Doomsday? What, is the spectre gunna have to fly to the rescue, only to get owned uo on by Ego? DC VS Marvel just doesnt work, and it never will. Why do you think they cut the Amalgam series short in favor of combination heros? Why do you think the idea hasn't been brought back to life officially since then? Why do you think they made pink kryptonite for superman, but not pink steel toed houseshoes for Juggy? Cuz DC just ain't got the same juice Marvel does. To those who'd be stupid enough to argue that I have one piece of advice for you: lol go read, kiddo. go read.)

Super Man VS the Avengers superman wins plus in the cartoon show justice league unlimited there were thousands of super heroes in the league and they had a laser at the watch tower with the force of a small nuke also lots of javelins (small space crafts for carrying heroes down) and lots of technicians to run the watchtower if all the heroes were gone plus all the inmates of Arkham and their goons on their side and Ra's Al Ghu'l's Lazarus pit. But look at all the stuff shield has and Tony Stark has 42 ironman suits not to mention they have all of hydra's stuff from winter soldier. So I guess what I think it would really come down to is why are they fighting, because different reasons would make them want to fight harder on both sides and one of the coolest of those fights would be a battle between Deathstroke and Deadpool. They both have the healing factor (Deathstroke had it in bronze age) but deadpool can teleport oh and don't forget DC has the lantern corps the orange one in specific is made up of the ghosts of the only non ghost members fallen foes so the fight would be very interesting to watch but sorry marvel in the long run DC would probably win in a long hard fight
