in a basic way, yes we function like a computer, but we are not able , at this point in time, to handle and store and readily retrive the fast amounts of data that a computer can, we also havent developed our esp skills to be able to send pictures to friends! just one example, silly i know,, of how while yes we store pictures in our brains, and yes can describe them, or even paint them,,,, thats about all! rival,,, hmm in what way? acquire the decision making of humans? i would say we are close and getting closer,, but there again, basically no,,, our brains store our emotions, create thoughts,,, debate issues etc, i dont think we would even want or need computers to do that

I think the key word is can. Yes we can, but can doesn't always mean does, nor may we have the speed of computer to process the information.. This is why we need, and is why technology is vital at this time. No, I think the computer can't rival the human brain, because it will never have the senses that a human brain has, and will only be a tool to help expand the thoughts of the human brain.

Humans compete with computers with "common sense". That's an advantage we have over machines. When you type a document 100 pages long and hit the delete button by mistake then your computer will abide dumbly versus the human brain won't erase itself ever. The computers are here for our use, convenience and benefit.
No, a computer will never rival the human brain because the human brain created it just as human beings cannot rival G-d!

We as human cannot function like computers, since we have sentiments, belief, morality, integrity and computers don't have.
The computers are programmed by human to perform calculations and "thinking" actions according to the programmer algorithm. Therefore the computers are less intelligent than humans.
But computers are much faster than human and can memorize huge amount of data. Therefore they are needed to help people do automatic actions. The computers are required since they are very good workers, very disciplined, they don't get tired and never complain about salary raising.
But computers will be always slaves of the humans, they will follow orders but can never has initiatives to start something new. Computers don't feel, are not curious, has no motivation and cannot judge. Therefore they can never rival the human brain which is guided by a Divine soul. Computers are just machines, who follow orders from humans.

I do not believe we as humans do function as a computer but some of us come rather close - savants have a rare mental capacity which fascinates me but I would not want to be locked away in a strange world of super mentality and not be able to function normally - perhaps because I already am this way.

(I do not consider myself normal, though! No one I know thinks so either. I have a good laugh about it, really. Why? People generally do not like it bacause I am blunt, so they say I have a loose screw.)

We have come to rely on this technology because the world is fast-paced and we need to get things done just as quickly. We may not want to be rushed (I don't) but we have to exist in this world and we must adjust our thinking and actions to manage on a daily basis.

For instance, I do not appreciate some taxi driver dangerously risking my life and limb in his quest to raise a quick dollar, yet this morning, the taxi which is to get me to the shuttle for work was slow because that driver runs at a different pace as opposed to many of the others. Though I wanted him to be quicker, I knew I would be asking of him what I do appreciate in others. Yes! Double standards! So, I shut up and prayed to make it on time. I did! I even got to buy my fruits before broading the shuttle.

The truth is that things have changed radically and we have to deal with them. There is no way out of it but dead and I am not ready. Besides, I love getting some things done by pushing a button; clicking the mouse ( I learned Computer Operations using the function keys; it was fun but the mouse is better and I do not need to remember all those keystrokes all of the time.)

In some sci-fi movies, they have featured super computers taking over mankind and enslaving humans. I would not like that at all. I don't even like it in the movies.

We do function like a computer.

However the human Brain functions faster, more efficiently and
handles more raw input data the any purely electronic computer.

If technological information materializes issues so stronger as time shuttle, human cellular regeneration of limbs and organs at sheer will, immunity to anti-bodies, community or alien, be able to guard earth from area mess ups...there is in basic terms not any elect for religions. And god myths could be eradicated long formerly. once you draw close directly to technological information, reason and good judgment, all supernatural ideals dissolve. non secular ideals are actually not nicely suited with the info and info that technological information grant. faith is fake coaching and in basic terms poisons societies, pulling humanity backwards in dark an prolonged time. "i think of with each step that technological information and technologies take, human beings (and we are speaking maximum folk in the worldwide, not in basic terms a minority) grow to be extra non secular" Your declare is fake. If something, technological information is enlightening the minds of people who ascertain to stand actuality and learn the info. No sane guy or woman could learn evolution and decide to have self belief in creation extremely. The info is there. despite in case you like it or not. it particularly is not a count number of concept whilst it is composed of observable actual info. in case you could not settle for it, proceed to be gullible.

You can travel on foot, so why have jet planes?
And yes, it just depends on us figuring out how our brain works and incorporate this knowledge into computers. In time they will even become self aware.
