Go on line and investigate. You can use Internet to call free. It takes some doing.
Some cards are as low as $0.07 per minute.

You can go over your "friend's" house and then say that you need to call home and your cell phone doesn't have reception - and call 'home" i.e. India. Or you can try www.skype.com.
