He is on Similac Isomil and he started with 2 ozs, but was still acting hungry so we gave him 3 for about a week. We just started giving him 4 oz, he seems to get full but I want to make sure I'm not feeding him to much.

My baby will be 4 weeks on Thursday. Im going threw the same thing witht him. If he does not eat enough he will wake right up an hour later screaming for food. I try to make him drink 4oz at a time so he will sleep for a least two hours. Sometimes he gets to sleepy to finish all 4oz, so I dont forse him. But yeah I think its normal. He wont want it if hes full. Good luck and congrats, being a first time mom is alot of work....(Hes my first)

He's hit a growth spurt. You should be thankful he's healthy, and feed him more. Of course, you don't say how large he is, and that will make a difference too. bigger babies need more calories. After the growth spurt is over, he will slow down again, for now, make a six oz bottle, see how much he eats, and track how long it takes for him to be hungry again. Seriously keep a chart, so you know exactly how long it is, sometimes it just seems like it's shorter than it is, and time from beginning of feeding to beginning of next feeding. He's still too young for cereal, some babies who are fed this young develop food allergies...yes, to rice! Stick with the formula for now. Your ped would probably tell you the same thing, cereal is for babies four months and up.

It's normal for your baby to be hungry. They are not eating too much.

On average, a newborn consumes about 1.5 to 3 ounces (45 to 90 milliliters) every 2 to 3 hours. This amount increases as your baby grows and is able to take more at each feeding.
At about 2 months, your baby may be taking 4 to 5 ounces (120 to 150 milliliters) at each feeding and the feedings may be every 3 to 4 hours.
At 4 months, your baby may be taking 4 to 6 ounces (120 to 180 milliliters), depending on the frequency of feedings and his or her size.
By 6 months, your baby's formula intake can be between 24 to 32 ounces (720 to 950 milliliters). This also depends on whether you've introduced any baby food.

Give him as much as he wants. Eventually he will be drinking 6oz maybe even 8oz eventually. It is perfectly normal and you cannot overfeed him, when he has had enough he will stop drinking. Babies are not born greedy, they drink what they need. Some babies want feeding ever hour. He is developing extremely fast and needs all the nutrition he can get. And don't listen to others when they say give him cereal. If you give cereal before 3-4 months old you can cause food allergies. It can also cause a baby to choke even with a small amount in the bottle.

i breastfeed, but i would think it's the same for formula too. it's best to follow your baby's cues. they're probably going through a growth spurt, mine did around that time, so they'll eat more often. if they're hungry, feed them, hehe also, you can ask your pediatrician, you should have seen him when the baby was 2 weeks, then at 1 month, 2 months, 4 months and 6 months.

My last son was like that I ended up giving him cereal! He wanted to eat like almost every 2 hours! Plus the formula wasn't satisfying him. My Dr. switched brands like 3 times and then he was good. All babies are different as long as he isn't throwing up or having excessive bowel movements he should be fine but as always check with your pediatrician. could be something else. Good Luck.

That sounds about normal to me! My little girl is 3wks 1day today, and she is at just about 4oz every 3-4 hours though. Sometimes more, depending on if she may have slept a little long(more than 3 hrs)

that sounds pretty normal. One of my children wouldn't even eat at all in the hospital, but by 3-4 weeks was on at least that much formula! Call his dr. maybe he will have you had some rice cereal to his formula. Good luck!
