No.

Plain and simple.

I respect his cause, but he went through the south in the 60's inciting riots to make his point.

No.

There are much greater men...and women, who did more for this nation more peacefully and as a whole than MLK, Jr. did.

I say the more holidays the better!!! And if there was a hierarchy, MLK Jr. would AT LEAST be above Columbus. I mean he didn't even discover anything. What kinda stupid question is this?

The topic is obviously closed for discussion since the holiday is already on the calendar. Read a book in your spare time.

He already has a holiday, it took the place of Lincoln's Birthday as a holiday so there is no debate to discuss.

He does have one, it's the third monday in January.
I think he should have it because he was a major contributor to social change in the US, although I beleive some people have gone overboard about naming 50 streets per city after him. And some people apparently don't care what change he made because they haven't changed their way of living to reflect his goal of the social change was meant to achieve.

Good question.

I think if his dream is fulfilled, we certainly should celebrate him.

On the other hand, since his dream has clearly not yet been fulfilled it may be even more important to celebrate him in order to remind everyone about that dream.

Yes, as he was a brave man to do what he did at a time in America when race relations were not all that grand
