i stopped watching wrestling for a couple years a while back and then tuned in again and now they are gone.....the hardcore title would especially be interesting to bring back, those matches were raw!

I wouldnt be surprised if they brought back the cruiserweight with Evan Bourne coming back. They could do some very entertaining matches that way, instead of continuing to use cruiserweights in David vs Goliath matches against Their useless big guys. I would be surprised if they brought the hardcore title back, however. There is very little hardcore about the WWE these days. They want to get as far away from the attitude era as they can, it seems. And the Hardcore matches are hard on the wrestlers. Still, I would be totally stoked if the hardcore title came back on ECW.

Both of the titles have been put on the shelf. First they had a match unifying the IC and European Title. Rob Van Dam (IC Champ) defeated Jeff Hardy (Euro Champ) to unify the titles under the IC title. A few months later RVD defeated Tommy Dreamer (Hardcore Champ) to unify the Hardcore and IC titles, once again under the IC title. Ironically they tried to do away with the IC title as well, but eventually brought the belt back.

The hardcore title was retired by the McMahons because of it's nature. It was retired around the same time that they were trying to outlaw some of the more dangerous moves like piledrivers and such. I believe they gave it to Mick Foley (Mankind) as a "retirement" gift.

The european title was retired basically because the WWF had way too many titles at the time and it's value wasn't as high as the Intercontental title. It was basically just an extra belt with very little significants.

Both titles are pretty much pointless now.You have ECW for your hardcore fix.European title has always been the most pointless title ever as there is only 2 Europeans in WWE.

I guess it is because they brought Smackdown to the wrestling world and added the US and the cruiserweight title but I am not sure.

both were absorbed into the IC belt prior to the brand split when they merged all WWE/WCW belts

Hardcore was brought back as a prop to kick off ECW
