Thank you for taking the time to read and consider my letter. As you may know, I have been notified that my employment with XXXXX has ended on November 15, 2006. I was informed that the decision was made because of violations of policy.

In my situation I believe there were a lot of mistakes made and I accept full responsibility for my actions. However, I really enjoyed and loved my job and would never put the children in harms way.

The situation with my co-worker went far beyond that day. I should have been put in a grievance, but chose to continue to ignore the behavior from my co-worker. There was a lot held in from previous experiences with him. The day his behavior was inexcusable, I let my co-worker know in a way that the children were unaware of, and did not know there were any problems outside of the game we were playing.

In the year and a half that I have been with XXX I have never violated any policy. In fact I take pride in working with the children. While at XXXX I have gained a lot of knowledge and experience and would like to continue to have a chance to do so if you allow me. I would like to apologize again for my behavior and can assure that it would never happen again.

I would like the opportunity to discuss my situation with you. Please let me know when you are available.

Your letter sounds heartfelt and truthful, which is good. Did you send it already? I would also call your manager or whomever let you go and explain your situation too as well as mail the letter. Most places if they feel you are heartfelt would like to give seconds chances. I don't know the reasoning behind why you were terminated, and I am sure that they will take that in to consideration too. If I were you I'd start looking for another job, too, just incase this falls through. Good luck.

Don't bother.

You got fired for embarrassing your boss and employer. That's an unforgivable sin. There is no way you can be rehired, because of the liability should you make such a mistake again.

Firings are always irreversible. They are like the bell that, once rung, cannot be unrung.

Cut your losses, and go look for another job. Be ready to give a good explanation of what happened should you be asked about it during an interview.

I would call this a lesson learned. Generally, if I terminate someone...that status is not-rehirable.

In future interviews, be honest about what happened here (not give specifics), but use it as a lesson learned. One of those life items we grow from.
