I find it easier to get my point across uninterupted on paper. I just have a hard time saying what I want to say in person.

Absolutely! I can write exactly how I feel and get my point across, especially if I am riled up at the time! When I am mad, or upset - my feelings supercede my verbal reasoning and I cannot find the words to express myself. After the moment is over, I can think of a million things I "should have said".

In fact, I just chewed out my husband on a scathing email this morning!!

Yes, I also feel it is much easier to write down a feeling then say it out-loud. It gives the person time to think about what was said and not react in the moment. It gives you the willingness to say what is on your mind without watching someones facial expression changing your mind on what to say. So to me it takes the edge off of an immediate reaction or response. Too me there is so much more to the meaning of what is said, when a person has the power to read and interpret what is being written, rather then having to react right now in the presence of the interpreter, which will allow that person to really intercept what is being said.

ABSOLUTELY! Yes, I completely agree. I find it much easier to get something across in writing. Actually, I have had someone tell me to do this when I REALLY need to talk to someone. To write them a letter. That way I can get everything out. Because when you start to have a conversation, even if you completely have it all planned out, things get off track and there is always something that ends up not being said. So, write a letter. Hand it to them (I prefer in person) and then allow them to read it. Give them a chance to respond to it if they want. That way you can still have a conversation, but you've already gotten everything out that you need to.

That's what I use my online blog for as well. I get out my ideas in writing before I talk to someone about it. That way I can make sure I say exactly what I mean, and don't get overly emotional or forget to say something that is incredibly important to me.

So don't worry. You're not alone. It is oftentimes easier to write ideas than to say them.

I've lived the majority of my life in this decade, but I have to admit, it seems to be a very problematic time period. It started out with a huge terrorist attack on our country, which led to a war, plenty of natural disasters, and now we're suffering through financial meltdowns. There have been countless issues this decade, and hopefully they'll get better. I read a very interesting article from Time Magazine called "The Decade from Hell" about the issues this decade has seen. I listed it as the first link in my sources if you want to read it, it really is a great article.. But another stance on this is the improvements we've also seen. Our world has seem enormous improvements in gay and women rights, although there is still plenty of room for improvement. We've landed plenty of successful rovers on Mars and expanded our knowledge of space. Many advances have been made towards curing some diseases. There have also been many awful past decades, that the majority of us haven't lived to see. What about the 1930's, when World War II began and impacted our world forever? The 1940's, which saw the worst of World War II, the Great Depression, and scary advances in nuclear technology? Overall, I have to agree with you, the 2000's have not been a very good decade, but the truth is that it hasn't been the worst decade either.

Many people are like this. I am like this. Maybe it is because we think too fast and say the wrong things or jump to the point. I usually write my thoughts in a journal. I'm a fairly good writer but I have problems getting my point accross to other people. Try socializing more or public speaking it seems to help make it easier for me to gain more cofidence and get more to the point when speaking.

Totally... interruptions are horrible because they make you lose your focus. It's so much better to get it all out while you can think about it with 100% focus. In my psych class, we were taught that communication is like 90% listening and 10% talking. Sounds like you need to find people who know how to communicate in order to save some paper.

I have that same problem... I think we are too worried about other peoples feelings and thus change the tone and content as we say things directly to people reading their body language and expressions, writing words can be selected precisely without change midstream

Yea...
when I write it I can say what I want and not change my mind about what to say based off the person's reaction.
Also I can think out my thoughts longer instead of impulsively saying something.

My father did.

He wrote several notes. Flowery, probably heart felt and genuine. When he died I felt he had never ever shown any real love to me.

Don't be cold. If you want a proper loving relationship whether with partner, siblings or children do it personaly.

We're poetic,
I am the same way. It is a sign of deep thought. We don't like to dismiss things right away, we like to ponder an Idea, so we can cover all aspects.
