The key word here is 'your' mobile phone. If the phone belongs to you, then it is completely legal for you to unlock it. If how ever, you are still under contract with a service provider, you might find the contract states that the phone is theirs until the minimum term has expired ..... if this was the case, you would not be entitled to unlock their property (but they wouldn't know unless you actually handed it back!).

Yes, certainly. In fact, the cell phone provider probably doesn't care because you've already signed a contract which guarantees them either payments for 1-2 years or a hefty cancellation fee from you.

Yes even if in a contract just swop your sim cards, I'm stuck in a contract till May next year, I pay my monthly line rental but don;t use the sim till weekends to use free minutes, rest of the time I use a different pay as you go sim with free texts. They have no way of telling you've unblocked your phone.

Yes it is legal once you do not owe your service provider anything. For instance if you got your phone on a monthly contract you may owe them something. Though I think once one year is up the phone is yours.

Yes it is, but if you haven't finished the minumum length of your contract and you don't get the unlocking code from your provider, then the warranty on the phone is defunked.
