Do any of you agree with me that biology does not determine destiny? What I mean is that men and women are equal despite sexual differences, That we both should have an equal oppurtunity to achieve and to not be discriminated against. Please explain to me why you do or why you do not. Thanks )0( Blessed be

I agree with you to a point about biology determining destiny. Though most things can be determined on individual merits rather than by sex, there are some things that biology does determine (ie, my husband is not destined to give birth...). It also depends what you mean by equal. I agree completely that we should have equal opportunity to achieve without discrimination.
One of my pet peeves is things that have been changed for the sake of equality. Organizations such as military or firefighting for example that have lowered their standards to that women can join really bug me. The standards of strength and fitness were there in the first place so that those who meet them will be able to do the neccissary job. By all means women who meet the higher standards should be able to have the job, and not be discriminated against, but by lowering it 'so women have a more equal chance of being able to join' it is doing a disservice to women in general by pretty much saying they CANNOT do the job properly, both the men and women that have worked hard to reach the original standards, and the people that rely on soldiers/firefighters/etc. in those occupations who now have a lower standard to meet.
I hope that makes sense. :-)

people should be judged on their actions, not their physical structure.
