Just to let some of u know this was meant asa hypothetical situation, so the causes etc are immaterial. Also most historians view the Cold War as WW III,which is why I used WW IIII.

The answer is simple - The rest of the world.
The US has never won a battle except when it was fought on the back lot of a Hollywood Studio!
They go on about how they Won WWII but they where just a small part of the "Backroom Staff" on the scale of things. The only good thing about US Forces, is the size of their "Expendable Resources" both equipment and grunts!
On the other hand, they would win a contest of "Who shouts loudest and sounds most intimidating"

There will be no WW 4.
What has already begun is 4th generation war, where conventional armies are irrelevant and useless against individuals who have a cause and are prepared to die for that cause, yet cannot be identified as they are part of the general public all over the world.
The battle is how to stop it by understanding the reason for it, and resolving the cause.
The cause is "injustice" felt by those individuals, to the point they take action in the only way they know or can. They don't have billion dollar budgets so they deliver their bomb by suitcase instead of high level stealth bombers.
Politicians created the problem are they capable to solve the problem they created.

Well with the EU turning into a European Superstate and the prospect of Russia joing the EU i would personaly say the EU or the rest of the world.

But Lets not forget the special reltionship between america and the united kingdom so perhaps it would be USA,UK VS EU.
(providing the british government has enough sence to pull its self out of the EU)

But perhaps, World war three or 4 chould all ready be happing or on the way.

Ok Anthonyin....
China has a 10 million man army? Where do you get your facts from? Much like your best answer for 'which kind of communism is north korea adherting to?'...and your reply that it's like China in the 1300s.....yes, communism was a legitimate ideology in China during the 1300s...idiot. And best answer...goes to show how dumb the person was asking the question. Sheesh.
Also....China's army is under 2 million.
Stop answering questions you know nothing about.
Re: this query...the US would get its *** kicked....unless it were a nuclear war and then it would be total global annihilation.

Sorry, but the rest of the world would win. But, it would be a good fight.

Us troops are stretched very thin, and out armed forces are a lot smalled than they used to be. China alone has a 10 million man army.

NOPE NOPE NOPE, the US maybe strong, but against the world, George Bush would have to get a lifeboat to Hawaii, because the entire country would be crawling with our paratroopers, bombers, tank. And surrounded by subs and ships our army would be like 20 times that number, that's is if we could get the entire world to unite. Which may cause difficulties

I think the next major clash will be between China and Islam. I'm sure the Chinese will not put up with the nonsense from the Islamic extremists that we in the west do.

Unfortunately, Bush and the Neocons are heading us in that direction, at least in regards to a religious war against all of Islam. "you are either with us, or you are against us" should send a chill up the spine of all thoughtful people, as many Muslims are being forced into the position of being against us. If this continues to grow, it may well look like us against the rest of the world, and we live in a kind of society that is very vulnerable to attack.

First of all US will not go alone. It has always managed to put together a bunch of strong allies. It has succeeded in pursuading even unwilling countries.

So, if history is any indication of future, US (and its allies) will win. The bruises could be deep and there could be unimaginable devastation. But US will win the war. Like in Iraq, where the war is won (as announced by Bush in his fighter plane stunt).

no body wins in that senario... but the looser would be US of A big stylie. ever heard of the saying... dancing on someone's grave... have you ever experienced a situation that could be descibed like that? well that's what it would be like... the world would have a field day piling into the US. a slight over reaction perhaps... but you know the other saying, better to let the anger out than keep it locked up in side :)
