Last week, the week before Thanksgiving, was National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, co-sponsored annually by the National Coalition for the Homeless and the National Student Campaign against Hunger and Homelessness. What? Isn’t this the world’s wealthiest nation?

Yes, we talked about this in Church on Sunday. In the most recent government report 12% (35 million) people in the United States alone suffered 'food scarcity' or hunger last year. When one considers that almost all US residents are rich compared to many in developing countries (even our poor are rich, with most having access to at least some food each day in social service programs), it is quite sobering.
