And they asked for a very good reason. If you didn't answer correctly, you did not get the job.
A pound of bricks has less volume than a pound of sugar, which has less volume than a pound of feathers, which has less volume than a pound of air, even though feathers are mostly air.
This should be an intuitive, quick answer, a very simple one. If you complicate it, as I just did, your mind just used up a lot of energy trying to figure out a simple answer. Any employer would rather hire someone who can think quickly over a person who needlessly wastes time over unnecessary thinking..
The answer was the first one that popped into your head, which was neither, right? Using the convoluted thinking I just used, I did not get the job either. Sorry.

A pound is a pound no matter what it is made of. They probably asked to see if you can pay attention to small details or think logically. I remember a test I did one time that stated; "read all questions before you start the test." It then went on with --
1. Write your name on the left hand side of the page.
2. Put in X on the back side of the paper.
Etc.
Then number 20. Now that you have read all 20 questions, do nothing and wait for everyone else to finish.
EVERYONE did all of the items listed on the page, to only realize they should have do NOTHING!

A pound of bricks no doubt. Ask yourself this would you rather I went upside your head with a bag of sugar or a brick. I thought so.

They both weigh the same. Don't take a job where they ask questions like that.

Are you serious? Obviously its a pound of bricks, because one brick weighs more than sugar. A pound isn't always the same amount of weight even though it always is the same measurement.
