Ok, it's really going to depend upon the style of music you want to play.

An acoustic bass with a pickup is going to have a more limited range of sounds it can produce. That being said, it's sound is somewhat unique and you can't really get an electric to sound quite the same.

Unless you plan on being in a band with acoustic guitars, I'd stick with an electric to start. That's what I did.

The only difference is you can hear the acoustic, albeit a little bit, more without an amp than the electric. Acoustic is nice if you want to practice at home without bothering anyone.

nicely, there are specialists and cons to buying the two of the two: enable's seem on the acoustic guitar first: specialists: transportable/does not require an amp stressful circumstances your guitar taking part in greater (barre chords, finding out on, and so on. extremely harder so which you will strengthen plenty) CONS: greater fragile (in some approaches) confusing to alter to acoustic from electric powered extremely than vice versa now, enable's see the bass guitar specialists: Opens up threat for yet another finished sort of taking part in - the strings on a bass guitar are extremely larger and spaced added aside, which enables ease contained in the technique customary as pop/slap, that's often utilized in funk (crimson warm Chili Peppers, Ohio gamers, and so on.) and sounds surprising, yet you additionally can play with a p.c.. or hands as nicely! CONS: Used as greater of a rhythmic/accompaniment device, and individually, to me, it does not sound exciting in any respect while used to play solo products that could be in many circumstances used with a 6-string EADGBe guitar. individually, i might choose for the acoustic, for the reason that's a difficulty-free device, yet has a diverse "experience"
