oh poor girl i completely sympathise, i had and still have horrendous periods. i remember going to Ireland with my parents and having to get my dad to stop the car at every petrol station.
my daughter (10) is at puberty stage, not started her periods yet, but has all the signs & symptems, and i am dreading all this happening to her.

I had exactly the same problem up until about 2 months ago! I'm 15 and when I was on I used to go all white and dizzy and my hearing because awful and my eyesight went blury and sometimes I threw up or fainted. I know it was stupid but I never told my mother this simply because I didn't want to go to the ob/gyn and I don't like the attention. But anyway something happened recently which improved things durasticly!
I had been suffering from vertigo for a long time and after MRI's and blood tests I went to a nutritionist and she found that I was deficient in Iron, Protien, Fatty acids, Zinc, Magnesium and something else I can't remember. Anyway she put me on a strict diet which is very high in all of this and I practically have no period pain anymore. I take a paracetomal every 4 hours from the moment I find out I am on and apart from a slight leg and lower stomach ache, I don't suffer anymore.
I know this doesn't completly solve the problem but this could improve it!

I agree, take her to the doctor. Getting that sick over your period is definately a reason to look into the pill, only for health reasons! You could try looking at the pill as having two reasons of being prescribed: to prevent pregnancy OR to lessen menstrual symptoms. Isn't there a pill now where you only have your period once every three months?

Please take her to the doc, she shouldnt have to suffer this at her age. Ask him for alternatives to to pill. Even if thats the only thing to help her, it's better than her suffering each month. You sound like a sensible and caring mummy, hope fully this has rubbed off on her, and she is mature enough to cope with the pill? Alternative therapies are worth looking into, acupuncture or the like. Anyhow the gp is the place to start, good luck, hope she gets sorted soon.

i think u should take her to see a docter but they more then likely will advise her to go on the pill for the fact that her periods might lighten a bit. i wouldnt worry as the same happened to me apart from i started my periods when i was 11 i then started the pill a couple of months after that theres nothing to really be ashamed of it might help your daughters periods out in the long run good luck.

i am 16 & my periods used to be so bad just like that, i would miss so much school becouse i had the worste cramps & headaches. i got put on the shot, i still get my period but very light the end of every 3 months. With her being so young i would suggest the pill, it doesnt' cause as much wieght gain & the migraines that the shot usually causes.

I know she is only 12, but it is OK for her to take the pill. If she is fainting (I had this problem too) make sure she is getting extra iron, whether it be from meat and veggies, or vitamins. She may be slightly anemic. Most women's iron gets low because of blood loss, and since your body doesn't make it, it has to come from an outside source. When it's that time for me I just make sure to take extra iron, It really helps!

The pill might help with her periods, both reducing the pain and regulating them, but it might also act as a green light for her to start relationships with boys.

I know that she's your princess, but re-assure her that she's too young for love and physical relations and that the pill is at this time, just to assist in her periods.

Good luck.

does being on her period cause her to get migranes? That maybe the cause of her sickness. Also she may be anemic if she is loosing that much blood. I know she is a child but if the pill is going to ease her suffering every month then it will probably be worth it, It will also make her periods more predictable therefore easier to deal with. best wishes.

I was put on the pill at 13 for the same reasons. It was an instant transformation. It's worth looking into.
