IUD's traditionally work very well, but of course no method is 100%. With those symptoms, I recommend seeing a doctor since many IUD users are prone to pelvic inflammatory disease caused by an organism called actinomyces. This can be serious, so I do recommend seeing someone. If this is the case, she will have to remove the IUD. Since you are trying to avoid pregnancy, I hope this is what is causing her symptoms, but she also could be pregnant. None the less, she needs to see a doctor either way.

No method of birthcontrol is 100% effective. If you think she is pregnant then she needs to take a test. If she is pregnant then the IUD needs to come out very soon. Get the test!!

Chances that she is pregnant is 0.1% if she had her tubes tied Chance of pregnancy would be 0.5% so sounds like she might be coming down with the flu. About the spotting its VERY normal to spot and have abnormal periods while on the IUD

Take a test and find out for sure. That is the best way to find out. If it comes out negative and she still has symptoms and a missing period she should see a doctor for a blood test.

Ummmm hello! Take the freakin test, it's the only way to know for sure if she is truly pregnant. If she is pregnant she needs to get the proper maternal vitamins at an early stage in her pregnancy so you should find out fast!!! Good luck with the outcome, hope this helps!!!

Taking a test is always a good idea. She might be pregnant, but if she is spotting is not a good sign. After you take the test, if she is pregnant, she needs to get to a doctor asap.

i don't think she is. the way iud's work is that they prevent the fertilized egg from implanting. it's possible that she could be, but it's a very slim chance. besides, if her breasts are sore, she would be pregnant already and not bleeding. she's probably just getting ready to start her period.

HI, I HAD AN IUD SEVERAL YEARS AGO. USED IT FOR 7YRS. I DON'T THINK SHE IS PREGNANT! MAYBE COMING DONW WITH FUL? THE IUD'S PURPOSE TO PREVENT AN EMBRYO TO ATTACH TO THE INSIDE OF UTERUS. I ALSO SPOTTED IN BETWEEN PERIODS. SOMETIMES IT HAPPENS EVEN WHEN THERE ISN'T ANY IUD. HAVE GO TO HER DOCTOR AND GET THE IUD CHECKED TO MAKE SURE IT HASN'T SLIPPED! GOOD LUCK AND HOPE EVERYTHING TURNS OUT OK!

Always take a test if you're unsure. An IUD is not 100% effective.

of course you should have her take the test. you need to know if she needs to see a doctor because if she is pregnant she needs to start taking prenatal vitamins. you are too old to be "preached" at but you are also old enough to know that the only birth control that is 100% fool proof is abstinence. Good luck!
