.........person has been drinking? Would that decrease the time, or would it be about the same? Also, for the person who has been drinking, would they experience less pain?

??? i think it would vary depending upon how long someone can hold their breath, what type of situation it was...like, if someone were being violently drowned, they may suck in water making it quicker. same with drinking. being inebriated may decrease the time if the person was less in control of bodily function.... why are you asking.....

I dont know how long it takes...usually about 3 minutes I would figure.

If they are drinking, Im sure they would drown faster because if they are drunk, they might not realize their actions and not "hold their breath" like a normal person would.

Usually when someone is drunk, they dont feel the pain from a fight until the next morning. But it may be possible, when your body realizes its in serious danger...it could try to get you out of the drunken state and on full alert, making you aware of the pain.

It all really depends, but those are my views on the subject.

It varies from person to person. People who are trained can stay conscious without air for amazing times of 5-8 minutes though I believe the record is in the 8 to 9 minute region. However, for most people it would be closer to 3-4 minutes and people like myself like asthma and smaller lung capacities, 2-3.

If a person has been drinking it probably wouldn't decrease the time though I would imagine that if the person had drunk enough he would be more numb.
