Total abdominal hysterectomy and was put on everol patches 100mcg day after. Since then I have had aching legs, more painful in my thighs. This keeps me awake at night. I am walking everyday for 30 mins and feel very mobile and well since the op, other than still have a large tummy which I know will go down in time. Any ideas on why legs are aching, has anyone else experienced this?

Could be the position you were on the operating table, or lack of use of the muscles since the surgery, or some of the nerves were affected by swelling in the area. Talk to your doctor, it is a common problem.

hi louise
i had a hysterectomy a few months back now and i can tell u that u r walking much too early and for too long. no wonder your legs are aching. three weeks is no time at all to recover from major surgery. rest up a few days and see if it stops. just cut your time down to about 15 mins but before u do that have a couple of days off. you must be very tired - take care of yourself and have a rest. good luck.

You've had major surgery with big bits being taken away. Your body needs time to readjust. My mum was too eager to get back on her feet and I remember her trying to carry a plant in a pot across the room (it was only a small plant). She started off OK and as she walked, she held the plant lower and lower. Her muscles just wouldn't let her support the weight. She was trying to do too much, too soon.
If you are at all worried, speak to your doctor.
