I know it was created by Milton Bradley and that double trouble, frustration, and headache were follow-ups to the game, but I'm looking for a bit more ;\

Not doesn't really give too much history, but the article mentions the fact that Trouble was developed by the Kohner Brothers and manufactured by Milton Bradley (now part of Hasbro).
