in laymans terms what do they do, are they dangerous?

What if this person is in a position of respect such as a doctor or a priest what can they get away with here?

As someone else stated, a sociopath is a dangerous person because they will do anything to get what they want.
The sociopath only lives to serve their own purposes. They only care about having what they want when they want it. If someone comes along and gets in their way, they have no remorse or moral conscience that would prevent them from harming or killing the person.
they use their charms to get people to trust them only to get what they want. So, yes, they manipulate and use people. They are very good at appearing "normal" which also makes them extremely dangerous.
The thing that makes a sociopath a sociopath is that they have no conscience. They just do what they want to do, and use any means to get what they want.
Some are very intelligent and patient. They can make plans and carry out elaborate schemes and wait for years for all of their " work " to come to completion.

A sociopath (not sociapath) in layman's terms has no conscience. They feel no remorse about breaking laws, hurting people, etc. They do not feel compelled to conform their behavior to societal norms.
They can be VERY dangerous when they resort to criminal and violent behavior to get what they want.

A sociopath is someone, basically, without a conscience. They have no regard for other people and are extremely self-centered. A sociopath will do or say whatever is necessary to get their way.
What makes them so dangerous to society in general is that they will not hesitate to hurt people or destroy property to get what they want. They can then rationalize their behavior.

A sociopath is someone that only thinks of themself and is willing to do just about anything to get what they want. They don't see other people as valuable. They're just here for their own enjoyment.

A sociopath is a person who wants to play with peoples mind...they manipulate, try to scare you...they make your mind a mess.but as far as I know they are "chicken", that's why they want to scare you...because can't face the challenges of reality.
