I don't know much about viruses or dealing with them. It said it was in documents and settings. I took it off with my program and am just curious about where I could have gotten it or anything else I should know. thanx

So, is there anyway to tell which website may have done this? Is this something that once I have removed cookies and such, will it continue to give probs, or only if I return to that site?

viruses and exploits are different things.

a VIRUS is a program, which when ran on a computer will hide itself then try to spread itself to other computers, either by emails, p2p sharing programs, or other means. normally it will require you to run a file sent by email, messenger, or from a website to get the virus onto your machine in the first place.

an EXPLOIT is a vulnerability in a piece of software or the operating system itself (ie. windows) which may let someone into your system if they know how to 'exploit' that hole. because they are security holes in software(s) themselves, nothing necessarily needs to be ran on your machine for them to gain access.

sometimes the two collide, for example if you visit a malicious website which will scan your internet explorer for vulnerabilities, and if found it will exploit those holes to install a virus on your pc.
