I'm writing a story for my English Class and so far all I have been able to come up with is the title How The Lion Got It's Mane It's suppose to be a folk tale so that's why I'm doing that any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your question.
I would look at an explanation of how the lion got its mane just as all the cave men having beards and the lion wanting to show that it was still king of the beasts.
You might also want to look at folk tales online or imitations such as Rudyard Kipling's Just So series to look at how other writers have tackled them.

Folk tales are intended to have a moral. So there should be a lesson to be learned from the story. Think about all the folk stories you heard growing up. What do you want your lesson to be? Don't be vain? Don't trust lions? Then go from there.

'' in the past, lions do not have manes. they look totally like a tiger (without stripes). One day, the leader of the lion pack thought they looked out of sync, and should have a new look. the leader saw beautiful women with long black hair, and wanted to look as good as them. He then went to a good old fairy to ask if she could make lions look as beautiful as women." the story continues...the fairy asks the lion to complete some difficult tasks, and the lions got their 'beautiful hair' (mane).
