I'm thinking about getting it, but I'm scared of all the consequences with it. Would you get it? If you've already had it, what was your experience with it?

Don't do it. There are a lot of women even on here that you can verify are having a lot of problems with it. You may be creating an irreverseible problem.

Depo Provera is akin to forcing your body into an early menopause state.

I've been off the Depo Provera since 2000 and my hair and my eyebrows still haven't grown all the way back. I lost about a 1/4 inch along most of my front hair line. The rest of my hair came back and is thick and strong, but the hairline is not the same compared to what it was. In addition to the severe hair loss, I gained over 40 pounds, 20 while taking Depo and 20 after coming off. I never had a migraine before Depo and during use and for the first year after being off it, I had severe migraines at least once a week. My skin itched like I wanted to rip it off and I was hot all the time. I would get extreme vertigo with no warning. Just try staggering at work or while in the pharmacy and not look like you had a drinking problem! My bones also ached a lot. Depo has been proven to cause osteoporosis. Over a year after coming off the Depo Provera, I developed two serious blood clots one after the other. The cause was never completely determined because I had not been on birth control of any kind for over a year and my blood tests were normal. I finally had a rib removed and the clots stopped, but I will contend to this day the Depo had at least a little something to do with it. About the same time as the blood clots, I started having severe cramping and a year into it, my doctor found pretty severe endometriosis. With the resulting depression and the lack of sex from Depo you may not have to worry about getting pregnant because you won't want to have sex anyway. I know some people do just fine with this birth control, but it's not worth the chance. It takes upwards of 6 to 8 months for the effects to wear off and sometimes longer. My hair has never grown completely back along the hairline and I am having a hair transplant at a tune of $5,000.00 to fix it. I had to have my eyebrows tattooed because they will not fill back in! I am only 35! I can't wait until Depo is researched more deeply and to someday find out what else this drug did to screw up my system.

I got the (copper) IUD (since I can't use hormones anymore due to future clotting risks). My insurance paid for it. You still get your period, but it's worth it.

Our bodies are made to have periods unless we are pregnant. If you force your body into an unnatural state, it WILL fight back!

Well, I was once going to claim that no, Depo is not going to intent you to have a hump, but after fascinated by it, it can be sincerely viable. Depo factors calcium deficiencies, which can or may not lead to osteoperosis, which most of the time motives humps. So in a roundabout method, Depo CAN motive a hump, however it will not be for years and future years. Lol. You are no longer going to instantly sprout a hump after you get the shot three or 4 times. I didn't have any problems with the department. No weight reap and it really STOPPED my mood swings. O.O i suppose i'm the only one. I have been off it for roughly three months now and am very irritated and emotional all the time. As for men and women getting pregnant on Depo, i do know there are individuals who've, but I've under no circumstances met any. =)

nicely, i became into going to assert that no, Depo won't reason you to have a hump, yet after thinking approximately it, that's extremely possible. Depo motives calcium deficiencies, which will or would possibly no longer bring about osteoperosis, which often motives humps. So circuitously, Depo might reason a hump, even with the undeniable fact that that's no longer for years and years yet to return. lol. you're actually not likely to by surprise sprout a hump once you get the shot 3 or 4 circumstances. i did no longer have any problems with the dep.. No weight earnings and it extremely STOPPED my temper swings. o.O i assume i'm the only one. i've got been off it for style of three months now and am very indignant and emotional each and every of the time. As for individuals getting pregnant on Depo, i recognize there are people who've, yet i've got in no way met any. =)

The only plus to getting the shot is that most women stop getting their period. I was on it for a year and I didn't get my period for a whole year. The downside to that year was that I gained 60LBS!! I also became very weak & tired all the time. I decided to stop taking the shot when I actually did some research on the internet and I found out all of the side effects from women who were on it as well. I didn't like what I read. After I stopped the shot I had my period for two months straight and my period was irregular for two years after that. Also, still to this day my health doesn't feel as it used to feel, I feel like the shot did some damage to my body. If you really want to take the shot do your research!!

I was on it for a year then I stopped using it. While I was on it, I never had my period. I did gain weight. Now that I am off, I've only had my period 4 times in a year, I have very bad cramps now, and every period has become more and more heavy. My sister in law used to take it and she had a period for almost a straight year. It's good if you are not wanting to get pregnant anytime soon as it could take up to a year to get pregnant after getting off the shot, and its good if you don't want to worry about forgetting to take pills.. but it will take a long time for your body to get back to normal. but everyone's different

I wouldn't, because you have no period. Not only is it good to have a period because it flushes out bad stuff in your body once a month, but you will never know if you are pregnant. My old boss was on it, and she didn't find out she was pregnant until she was 4 months along. She could have had too much to drink at some point without knowing she was pregnant!

I wouldn't simply for the fact that they are giving you ALL of those hormones at once! I can't even imagine what that would do to me...its bad enough (im on the nuva ring) having the hormones in small daily doses! I have known people who love it and people who hate it. The people who hated it, hated it because it made them crazy and one of my friends had her period for 9 months straight becuase of it.
