Ortha Tricyclen Lo is a birth control pill that I am taking- I need to skip a period for a special event. Someone told me that if I take another batch of 3rd week of pills after I finish my current pack's 3rd week of pills that I can delay my period by a week. Is this true?

If you are going to delay your period, you should just skip it altogether, not for a week, it will just screw up your body more. What you do, is instead of going a week without taking a pill, or taking a week of sugar pills, you start your next month of pills right away instead, after you finish those three weeks, then you wait the 1 week until starting a new package. This causes less confusion with your body, believe it or not. I do this often, it works.

From my own personal experience I have found that if you stop taking your pill right now, your period will come usually within the next few days. Then start a new pack on the next Sunday so you should be off your period for your event. It SHOULD work, but no guarantees!
Good luck!

Just dont skip a week of your pills. After taking your full month of active pills do no take the inactive white pills, just start with the 1st day of a new pack of pills and continue taking them til they are gone then you should get your period as you normally would.
Worked for me.....

no... the only birth control out there that can stop your period is the depo shot.. that's what I'm on... but then sometimes i will have 1 period in the 3 month time period.. but the Otha pills, you can't stop your period considering they were originally designed to regulate your period...
