It's a company that reviews and tests products that consumers buy. They do this because consumers only have ads to rely on. And sometimes ads aren't completely truthful about their product, or they make their product look good, when it really isn't. Consumer Reports gives consumers something it can trust to look at to find out which products are the best. They have the magazine, and they also have an online service which you can subscribe to and look at all they have to offer there.

Consumer reports is a monthly magazine that is sponsored only by subscribers. In other words that accept no advertisers so they have no obligations to any company that may produce products. The consumer reports company does research on different products and compares those products to other similar products. They then publish their findings in their magazine. The published findings help subscribers to make purchasing decisions. Example: Consumer reports will test and research 6 different household vacuum cleaners. They test them on five or six different features such as suction, cleaning power, ease of use etc. Then they publish a listing of which vacuum worked best in each category.

Go to your local library and ask to see a issue of magazine.
I think it is also a ratings system of how consumers rate things like automoblies to refrigerators.
What kind of paper do you have to write?
I work at a local library and if you have access to a reference librarian ask them but do the work yourself and please don't wait until the last minute to get your paper done!
It is also a magazine that has no advertising.
Good luck on your paper! :-)
