Think about it. Look at the high number of incredibly pathetic questions from teenage girls, asking how to get a boyfriend, impress a guy, whether they should leave an abusive guy, etc. It's like their entire identities are CONSUMED with having a boyfriend, at any cost.

So I ask you... has the feminist project been an utter failure? Where was Gloria Steinem when Clinton used his power and influence to get a hummer from a younger white house intern? Where are the strong, confident young girls that don't give a crap what boys think of their hair, their makeup, their looks, etc?

I'm the father of two young daughters... If they grow up to be even 1/10th as pathetic as some of the girls on this site, I'd just have to put a gun in my mouth and squeeze the trigger. I guess the onus is on me to make sure that doesn't happen!

You pose a very good question. I don't think feminism has failed or is dead. I do however think that young girls today are totally influenced by TV and the media. I happen to work for an all girl religious school and I see strong confident young women every day. Their role models are other women who are educated and articulate and push and teach them to be the same. All the role models that most other young women have are not strong confident women they are wimpy little pop princess' who live by, oh my I can't live without a man in my life so I have to act like an idiot and dress like a sl** to attract them all..... I also think our society has made it OK to have children out of wedlock, dress provocatively, have no self respect... I could go on for hours.

I missed the part where the feminists ever had control of the media and government through which they could ever have enough influence to meet some of their most basic goals. I would assume that some of the women who were influenced by the ideals of equality have proved feminism to be a powerful motivator in their lives. I also think that some men have continued to prove their own mental inadequacies. Take, for example, someone who would assume Yahoo Answers reflects the general mentality of female teenagers. The most intelligent teenagers are probably doing something better with their time.

Feminism is all about holding women people busy in different procedures than having little ones. Itll not fail as long as its beeing funded and through college and different media youthful girls people may be infulenced. A % comes to a decision she fairly needs a kinfolk yet another % that she needs a occupation and those 0-a million little ones and ultimately there is the % who cant get a guy because the pool shrinkened through adult adult males who're placed off marriage because of the divorce guidelines or because they deem it to be previous shaped.

Feminism has surely failed women. Instead of standing up for a woman's right to be held with respect and high regard, feminism only accomplished a woman's right to sleep with whomever she chooses and avoid the consequences by having an abortion. Feminism looks at women make pornography and says it's her right to express herself. Feminism encourages single parenthood by insisting that a woman doesn't need a man and thus fathers can parent from some other place. Anyone who heralds feminism makes me ashamed to be a woman.

Heh the "feminist project" . . .

I want to say that there still isn't enough time to pass judgement on an at best century old movement to counteract hundreds of years worth of societal gender roles. Things like this are complicated, and involves more than an attitude change; we would basically need some sort of societal paradigm shift, which would involve letting go/taking in some things that many don't want to.

And lovesick teenaged girls are not the only broken records on forums like these by far. Any stupid topic that involves even an iota of irrational emotion can seemingly be harped on by the masses ad nauseum. By any and all groups of people. But even so, yes, there are girls who don't find their value in the guys they're with; they're the ones not posting about it. And you use the word 'teenaged', which I think should point out the growing maturity of these girls; hopefully they'll find time to grow into their own.

You don't get it at all. Gloria Steinem's struggle for women helped Monica Lewinsky have the chance to get to the top in a man's world. The fact that Monica "blew it" isn't Gloria's fault.

Like all things, it gets taken advantage of.
Like religion, instead of understanding or respect, we get wars and "we are better" crap.
I hope, in a way, feminism has ceased.
I think the idea was right - woman need to be considered...but equally, that's all.
Men are not better, women are not better.
We are all equal, we are all created in God's vision, and we are capable of love and compassion...I know, I'm getting carried away, but above all else, I believe in equality.
radical feminism only makes us as bad as some of the men who tried to keep women down.

Our fathers and grandfathers are to blame. They never should have given women the vote. (I didn't say that. No, I didn't.).

Seriously - for a change - you are right on target. There appears to be a preponderence of silly young girl junk on here.

There is a lot of 'fun' stuff but too much fluff to wade through to find it. Hip-boot time.

Not failed. Still a work in progress. Teenage years are all about fitting in. Also a time to learn who you are. Monica Lewinsky was a willing participant .
It's when we know ourselves that we tend to not care about what boys think.

Why women need to live such under men pressure?Depends on what you understand for feminism.I'm a woman and I deserve respect and equal opportunity than men.If you call me feminist because I don't let a man beat on me,yell on me,cheat on me,treat me like s.....then yes I'm feminist. We all are human beings before we are definied as a men or women. The feminism is not dead it only dies in every woman when they let their man treat them like trash.Respectfully me.
