I've come up with y=(-9/14)x+9. I feel as though I'm missing something though. Used the rise/run equation to get slope and worked the problem from there as y-2=(-9/14)(x-(-7)). Am I doing this correctly?

m = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1) = slope
m = (-7-2)/(4--10)
m = -9 /14 = slope

Now we will plug values into point-slope form.
y – y1 = m(x – x1)
y - 2 = -9/14(x --10)

Now we will get this equation into slope-intercept form.
y = mx + b

y - 2 = -9/14(x --10)
y - 2 = -9/14(x + 10)
y - 2 = -9/14x - 90/14
add 2 (28/14) to both sides
y = -9/14x -90/14+28/14
y = -9/14x - 62/14
This would be your final answer because slope-intercept form is y = mx + b.

y = -9/14x - 31/7

You wrote it in point-slope form rather than slope-intercept form.

Use the equation y=mx+b. Substitute in the slope you determined and then choose one of the two points given to substitute in for x & y. Last, solve for b (the intercept). For example: 2=(-9/14)(-10)+b

You can also use the equation you've written above and simplify it into slope-intercept form by distributing the (-9/14) on the right side and solving for y. Your final answer needs to be in the form of y=mx+b.

Actually, after you find the slope of the equation:

2-(-7)/4-(-10)= -9/14

y-(2)=(-9/14)(x-(-10))

you put the other y vaule in your slope intercept equation.

Well, first you need to find the slope. 2--7/-10-4 = 9/-14, so you got that part right. Then, it's as follows:

y-2=-9/14(x--10)
y-2=-9/14x-45/7
y=-9/14x-49/7=

y=(-9/14)x-7

use the point slope formula:
[(-7)-2]/[4-(-10)] = -9/14
then plug into here

y-y1=m(x-x1)
y-2=(-9/14) (x+10)
y-2= (-9/14 x -90/14)
y= [-9/14 x - 90/14 + 28/14}
y= (-9/14 x - 62/14)

it surpose to be (y1-y2)/(x1-x2),so -10-4+= ur answer and 2--7=ur answer than ur answer will come out as a fraction

since you have 2 pts in the space, then the slope :
m = (y2 - y1)/(x2-x1)
