I know this will sound strange but it does work, and even if the wax is impacted. First peroxide will soften wax but will not remove it. So here goes, This procedure requires a water pic, and a helper. First put some peroxide in the affected, and let it sit it will bubble as it softens the wax. Next turn the affected side down over a sink, and fill the water pic with warm water. Turn the water pic on a low to med volume and let the pulsating water loosen and eventually remove the wax. You may have to repeat the peroxide a couple of times, and you may get dizzy from the water temp in the ear but that is no big deal. I have used this on family members with hard impacted ear wax and you would not believe how much runs into the sink. Kinda gross but it works great.

A small amount of ear wax is supposed to be there as it helps trap dirt and debris before it enters your ear canal. The wax then gets pushed out as the new wax comes out. You should not have to clean your ears except to use a washcloth when you shower. If you feel you have excess wax you can use debrox aka carbamide peroxide drops you can get at the drug store to soften it up. If that doesn't help then see the doc and have it removed at his office.

I would highly recommend ear candling. You can get them at your health food store, or GNC. I practice ear candling on my clients (I'm a massage therapist). It is a pain free way to remove excess wax. If you are uncomfortable doing it yourself, find someone in your area who may be able to help you. Don't use more than 2 candles per ear your first time and no more than 4 per ear any other time. Good luck.

Do not use a Q-tip! I was having this problem and my husband told me to use one. I had never done it before and a couple days later I got a really bad ear infection. If it's really bad I would say have a doctor check it out.

-Try eardrops containing a wax solvent.
-Do not try to remove earwax if you have ear pain or a discharge that looks different than earwax.
