Pies are not cooked they are baked and here is a simple recipe.

INGREDIENTS:

2 prepared 8 inch pastry shells
6 tart apples - peeled, cored and sliced
1/2 cup white sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons butter

DIRECTIONS:

1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

2.Place sliced apples in a large bowl. In a small bowl combine sugar, cinnamon, and flour. Stir well and pour mixture over apples. Cut half of butter or margarine into small pieces and add to apples. Toss apples until thoroughly coated.

3. Pour apples into pastry-lined pie pan. Dot apples with the rest of butter or margarine. Place second pastry on top. Seal edges and cut steam vents in top crust.

4. Bake in preheated oven for 45 to 55 minutes, until crust is golden brown.

Everyone has their own recipe. Some people don't make it for one reason or another. I've attempted many apple pies in the past and I can't cook them to save my life even with following a recipe.

A majority of people these days buy them from the grocery because they either weren't taught to cook/bake by their parents or they prefer having someone else do it for them.

My recipe is this: Bake in 375 F 45 min.
Use 4 large tart apples ( wine sap, empire, macs);peel, core and slice them. Mix up 1 cup of sugar & 1 tbsp cinnamon, toss apple slices in this mix.Set aside.
Crust is: 2cups flour,2/3 cup of Crisco (vegetable shortening),&
3 to 5 tbsp of ICE COLD water. Mix flour and Crisco together and add first 3 tbsps ice cold water together, adding 1 tbsp extra after that to form a ball of dough. Sprinkle more flour on countertop and roll dough for a deep dish 9" pie pan.Once it's thin enough to fill pie dish and sides, drape it over your roller and transfer to dish.Trim excess dough and add a fancy trim,or use a fork to press sides flat around the rim. Add apples.
Topping:
1/2 cup flour
1/2 stick of butter ( or margarine)
1/2 cup of brown sugar
a pinch of nutmeg
Mix these ingredients together until it looks crumbly, then add to top of apples.
Bake and enjoy!

Buy a can of apple pie filling. All of the instructions are on it. I suggest getting a pillsbury top and bottom crust if you dont want to make your own.

You don't "cook" apple pie, you BAKE it. Everyone has their own way of doing it. Me, I just buy one from the grocery store.
