It's probably going to be a very similar situation to the Queen Victoria - Edward VII one - i.e. Charles won't reign for long and Wills will accede afterwards.

I hope Charles lives long enough to become King. As for Stephie J saying the monarchy cost the country too much - have you looked at the cost of our 'Prime Minister' with his own Blair Force One aircraft and that yob Prescott who gets paid a fortune for doing damn all as 'Deputy' Prime Minister!
If you want to know the real Charles Prince of Wales then go to The Prince's Trust and see how many no hoper young people he has helped out of the 'no hope' society of young people regarded as on the scrap heap by everyone else.
This is a man who cares, who has given up his freedom to be an artist and a farmer to serve us - and all you hear from the 'Diana Soapers' is William, William, William. Well there's time for William and he needs time before he has to commit himself to doing what we want from him one minute and then don't the next.
Show me a 'President' I can admire anywhere in the World and then I will look at a realistic alternative to our Monarchy. I rest my case.

Prince William to be next king of England. I'm not sure...but with Prince Charles being divorced and marrying a divorced woman wouldn't that put him out of the equation of being the next king. Morally, I feel Prince Charles should have a knowingness of the 'emotional' environment around him and simply love his present wife and allow his son to step forward and become the next king of England.

I am hoping that the monarchy would fold after Liz has had her say. But, if that doesn't happen, then I would also hope that Chuck has the dignity to step aside and allow his son William to take over the throne. The monarchy could bypass all the criticism - the revisiting of the chaotic union of Chuck and Di, the wretched home wrecker Camilla, and instead, focus on youth and potential. If Charles becomes King, there will be more teeth gnashing and hand wringing. If William takes over, there will be an upsurgence in royal fans, and everyone will live happily ever after. Yeah, right. Well, more of a chance of it anyway.

Probably Prince William,I think Prince Charles,is getting too old.His mother, has been on her throne, too long, by the time she retires or dies,Prince Charles will be almost 60-70 yrs old.I think Prince William will do a much better job.He is younger and more entergetic, and he will have more fresh ideas.

Even though I would much rather see Prince William become King after the Queen, I would say that Charles will become King. I don't think he will reign very long, but I still believe he will king... someday.

There is no "thinking" required: the line of succession is listed for all to see : check the Order of Precedence. If any of the odds on favourites, Charles, William, have a tumble, there is a full back up procedure in place. It is for God to decide, not us.

I honestly think Prince Charles will. Apparently his marriage to Camilla is legal. All the talk about him being skipped or abdicating is just wishful thinking on the world's part (including mine).
