surely it makes more sense to drink your coffee sitting down where you bought it or has the phrase "coffee break" no place in our look at how busy i am scociety.

I think you've answered your own question. I think we've lost the enjoyment of just taking a break - -everyone is trying to prove how busy they are.

Sometimes coffee breaks are short. Anyway, by the time you get out of the line at the coffee place, your break is almost over and you have to get back to work. Hence, lots of people carrying branded coffee cups around.

Maybe they've gone out to get it and are carrying it back to their office when you see them!

Maybe they actually have got to get somewhere and do something, and want a caffeine hit to get them through it, but are literally don't have time to sit and drink it, so they'll have it en route or on the train.

Or they fancy a coffee but are on their own with no laptop or books, and they don't want to sit there like a pleb, alone in the cafe, staring out the window, feeling like the should drink up quickly and get outta there.

And they'll go to Pret or Starbucks because they give you big takeaway cups with lids and wrappers so that you can hold them w/o burning your hand. It makes sense, logo or no logo.

Branded coffee makes them cooler than you or I; that's the whole point. You don't actually think they drink that muck?

If they were thirsty, would they be marching up and down showing it off? No, they'd have drunk it already. Hot liquid in a big cup = status.

It's a little-known fact that those people are PAID to advertise the coffee! And I mean BIG bux! A little power of suggestion goes a loooong way! j/k

Either that, or they're just too busy to sit!

I hate this 'coffee to go' society we seem to be living in now, people rushing here and there with a hot cup of coffee in their hands, why can't they just get up 10 minuets earlier in a morning and sit down with their coffee and enjoy it, I think they assume it makes them look important and busy, in my opinion it makes them look lazy and late for everything as well as very pretentious.

i think your reading in to it to much! if people want to walk through the street with a takeaway coffee then so be it. There is nothing wrong with it. If they prefer to drink on the go then that is there choice.

Because they believe that coffee, like almost everything else they own, should be branded as that makes a statement about them.

It does, but I'll leave it to your imagination to come up with something.

I always take away in the morning and drink on the bus on the way to the office as I never have time to sit in.
