This is a decision made by individual churches. The ones which close probably do so in order that the pastor and workers may have a day with their families--you know, their wives and children? It also depends on which day it falls. If it falls on a Sunday, most churches have services, though they may be shorter and limited to one if they normally have 2. Added (for Hezekiah): No ruffled feathers here, but if the Bible is silent about the holidays, how do you condemn the churches who close for them--assuming they don't fall on a day of worship? God wants us to be good stewards of our money, too. Its like the one Sunday, there was a terrible blizzard which kept most people home, the only one who showed up for church was a farmer. The preacher said, "well, do we have a service, or do we go home?" The farmer said, "let's have a service." So the preacher gave it his all. He worked up a sweat preaching about the evils of sin, the hell-fire for sinners and the altar call lasted for a long time. On the way out of the building, the preacher said, "well, farmer, what did you think?" The farmer said, "well, on the farm, if we only have one cow, we feed it. But we don't give it all the feed." My point is that Christians who are mature enough to attend service on Christmas are also mature enough to miss a church service and let everyone be home with their families.

yeah, i do. i love going to my church on christmas eve and christmas day becuz on both days they do a reanactment of the nativity story. and the best part they don't reanact it with the 3 wise men at the nativity. (becuz in the bible it states that the 3 wisemen didn't get to Jesus, Joseph and Mary till He was about 2-3 years of age) i've always loved Christmas.

Yes, I love going as well. 1/2 of my family is Lutheran and the other 1/2 is Catholic. I love going to Midnight Mass. I think it is a gorgeous and lovely service.

I did once and left early because people where generally rude to me because I didn't belong. I went to learn something from another religion and got kicked in the face for it.
