Most African Americans do have white blood in them because over the centuries they have gradually bred with Caucasian people.
So no it dosn't surprise me.

Very few black Americans have zero white blood. They did a tv special about that a few months ago where they did ancestry profiles for a lot of famous people, some black, some we think of as white, and all of them were mixed. They were able to tell people what part of Africa and what part of Europe their ancestors came from. Quincy Jones turned out to be 50/50 black white, if I remember correctly.
