First, study first the area before going there. Going to website & seeing what is famous there. Buying a map & reading books abou the place in Powerbooks!
See Microsoft Encarta for Kids & Microsoft Premium DVD 2006 & Yahoo travel first! Ask people what the lovely places there. Usually you already expect what to see.
Go to relatives or friends, go to the mall and explore the place.

Sightseeing and eating the different foods, shopping like Venetian Glass in Venice, a turkish silk rug in Turkey etc. Going to the Uffizi in Florence, the Louvre in Paris, the Smithsonian and monuments in Washington DC, Mount Rushmore in SD stuff like that.

There isn't just one common thing... when we go away we want to do things and learn stuff.
Sitting and drinking isn't fun for us when we go away (we can do that at home) ...It's fine for others who like that... I'm not saying anything bad about them.
Typically we....
-Visit art and regular museums.
-Sightsee, go on tours.
-Walk alot!
-Take loads of photos.
-Eat local specialities.
-Meet new people from different parts of the world.
-Shop for real souveniers...not the 'made in china' kind.
-Breathe, and enjoy the surroundings....

Anything that you don't usually have time for. Like reading books.Watching movies. Sleeping till 8 a.m. Going to sleep at 2p.m. Visting with my friends
