my sons computer does it really need it if you have automatic downloads from Microsoft I guess the real questions is is it necessary to have it

I think Big Fix is a hassle you don't need if you keep up with MS updates. I get sick of seeing Big Fix say I have an urgent download and it turns out to be for MS Word which I do not use so I don't want to see this message constantly. So Delete Big Fix...in Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs. Be sure you want to delete it first though. Although Gateway will make it easy to put it back if you change your mind.

you dont need big fix but you do need to get all of the windows updates not just the critical
