and we had a meal afterwards to celebrate our new pastor. Well, my family and I got in line behind some other people and got our plates. While I was walking to my seat, I noticed the entire line of people looking at us. One lady told the pastor "Sorry, you were suppose to go first." and looked at us. We were so embarrassed!! We didn't know! We saw others in line so we got in line, too. I felt so uncomfortable for the rest of the meal and I'm thinking about not coming back to that church. They just looked at us like we were idiots.

My husband thinks I'm overreacting but I don't want to go to a church where the people think I'm selfish. Besides, God is in other churches too. What do you think?

Sorry, if you don't like what I am about to say.
I agree with your husband you are overreacting. You were not the only people in line, others were with you, not just you family. correct! The lady was rude for saying that, so don't take it on the whole church for just one person or even a few. Maybe she wanted him to be the first to be served because it was in his honor, you and your family were not the only people who got their food ahead of him. Don't take things so serious. life is short. let it go.

I feel so for you cause that was really rude of them to act that way. They weren't showing a loving attitude nor being very merciful. You will find some of these people in every church and if they would only realize the damage they do when they act that way. I'm sure the pastor didn't think anything of it except that his members should keep their mouths shut. I'd still go, I believe God leads us to these churches for a reason He may have a plan for you in the church and let the church know what great people you really are! God bless!

I think I would seriously think about changing Church's, you don't need these do gooders looking down on you. Just who are they to pass judgment on others.

If they act that way for an innocent mistake about an issue not clearly communicated, ditch them.

do you really think that sort of crowd will ever let you (or anone else) forget this event?
