I feel the same way. I have a friend who was always talking or texting or fiddling with his mobile phone and I've told him I'll superglue it to his ear on a few occasions. I think people like this are so ignorant. Why don't you do as I did. When he was on a call I used to send text messages to my friends or I used to call them on my mobile. If I was in the house I used to call my landline and pretend it was a friend I liked a lot. Always remember to keep a smile on your face when doing all of the above. My friend hardly uses his phone anymore whilst in my company. Remember - if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Good luck.

Yes I think its very rude, I went out to lunch with a friend of mine last week and throughout most of the meal she was repeatedly answering her phone and having conversations with someone about another person in her office who they seem to spend hours gossipping about, after sitting there like a lemon I finally got up, paid for my meal and left her to it, she asked me to lunch and not the other way round, if she couldn't be bothered then neither could I, I treat as I find these days, her excuse was the calls were important, my excuse I thought our friendship was.

I feel the same way. Usually I don't answer my phone when it rings when I'm with someone else unless it's like my moms or pops, but I just tell them that I'll call them back later, or even excuse myself if it's absolutely necessary. It's very rude, especially when it interrupts a convo.

Yep that is rude and it would really piss me off. If I was having a coffee/meal/drink etc with someone and my phone went, unless it was real inportant I would tell them to call back later or I would call them. A few weeks ago me and the girlies were out for a meal and one chick in our company had her phone constantly bombarded with text messages and silly phonecalls from her psycho boyfriend. She kept answering her phone and having conversations and it was HUGELY irritating! We all eventually yelled at her to switch it off, but she didnt!

Yes it's rude and even the closest of friends should either tell the other caller they will call them back - or if it is urgent, excuse themselves, say it's important and take the call but keep it as brief as possble. A long chat right in front of you is really disrespectful.

Unfortunately etiquette was invented before mobile phones. Some people think that having a mobile phone should make them available 24/7. I prefer to switch mine off (it also saves the battery!)

Yes, that is very rude. Unless the call is urgent, the person should end it quickly and focus on the person he or she is with. You should have said something about it after the call ended. I would have gotten up and walked out.

Ah yeah, I think it is very rude. You can simply tell the person on the phone..I'll call you back or not take the call and let it go to voicemail.
Only acception: family crisis or you are on call for your job.

Depends on who it is and if they make their living by phone. Otherwise, it's rude. I always say I'm in the middle of something and I'll have to call them back.
