Well, my old teachers would say "There are no silly questions?" and what I have come to realize is that there are silly questions, and therfore there are silly answers. And that is ok, because "the world is a silly place" - (A. Einstein). And it's better to ask a silly question than to ask a dumb one.

Well, you know what they say - ask a silly question, get a silly answer.
I think if you ask a silly question, KNOWING it's silly (you joke about it - it's obvious you know it's silly), getting chided should be expected. If you didn't know it was silly, then it's kind of rude on the answerer's part.

It says more about them, you may have asked a silly question but they are stupid for answering it if they didnt like it then move on to the next and dont answer its as simple as that! Ediots with nothing better to do with their time.

I'd say more about them...and their level of humor or their mood at the time..
I feel silly questions are meant to be just that & I for one enjoy a smile or giggle now n then..=)
