I think that you should contribute something in helping out. There's pleanty to do even if you're not cooking. That is how you show your gratitude if your mom or whoever is cooking is slaving over the stove for about 2 days.. then ha ve to serve it..THEN have to clean dishes...
and we ain't talking about setting the table,, prep work.. there's a lot of things that contribute to thanksgiving dinner!!! I am not cooking a lot for thanksgiving but my mother in law is, so i thought it was fair that I buy the turkey and I'm bringing some sides. She babysits my daughter all the time and I am trying to show some gratitude. So it's only fair that you offer some help even if no one asks you.

Help out anyway I can....of course the food is great too, but it seems to taste soooo much better when you know that it was cooked for and by people that care for each other. I love the holidays!!!
God Bless and Happy (early) Thanksgiving!!

I always help out any way I can, even if it just means helping clear the table, or putting stuff out on the table, but I come from a large family where there is lots of help.

You can always just go and eat, but it may not be a bad idea to help out. Even if it's just to help set the table, it's helping. The dinner isn't JUST for you, and it's always polite to help.

When I get there I help with whatever needs to be done to get the meal on the table and after eating help clear everything off and do not let "mom" say she does not need help.

I go to my aunt and uncle's. I would like to bring something, but they always say no - mostly b/c my aunt wants to control the food... They are very generous people so I shouldn't complain. I think it is always nice to atleast offer even if it just to set or clear the table, or if it is just bringing a pie or a bottle of wine.

I always help out, and ask what they would like for me to do to help. You're getting a good free meal, the least that you could do is show some appreciation for all their hard work.

I have been brought up to be a helper, so I always try to help. I never feel comfortable just having people wait on me while I drink and watch football.
