let us say that the fathers problems are mental problems passed through his family. Does that change the point of the question??

Could be both. First, is the father a criminal because of HIS bloodline, or HIS environment? Will the mother be able to raise the child to be a productive member of society?

I would say that environment (nurture) is more important in this case. The child may inherit anger mgmt. problems from dad, but proper development can cancel out the issues that could cause.

If the biological father's problems are due to mental illness, then yes your child has a higher chance of experiencing problems.

If the father's behavior is due entirely to socialization, your child should not be any more prone to antisocial behavior than any other child.

This is a rediculous question.

If my father was a gang rapist, but I never knew, or had any contact with him, I would not be like him at all.

I would resemble him, true, and we might share some traits...but it takes quite a bit more influence to turn someone into a murderer.

A productve member of society. His future should have nothing to do with his father's down fall.
