I have always had the feeling that travelling the world is the right thing for me. I,ve just come back from new york and have the urge to go somewhere again in january but i also have to settle down regarding starting a career -job wise. Should i follow that travelling feeling or work? I sometimes think that if i get tied down to work the opportunitie to travel will just past me by ! What to do?

Go and travel, work as you go along if you need to. But do plan it, decide when you want to go (say, in 6 months time) and save between now and then. Think where you want to go, research a little bit.

I know people in different circumstances -
1. 6 years ago I knew a guy that was always talking about travelling but he kept saying he wanted to save up and do it "properly". as far as I know he still hasn't done it.

2. friends that worked hard for 2 years to save for a 6 month trip. they had a great time but the 6 months flew by, not worth the 2 years they had struggled to save.

Life's too short, go and enjoy it!

You are a long time dead...you dont know what the future hold so if you can afford it TRAVEL... Why not think about both. Travel and work as you go. Pick up some jobs in the varous places that your journeys take you to. That will help pay for the next legs of your journey.

Why not apply for a job connected to travelling? I had been travelling vicariously by reading the Microsoft Encarta for Kids 2006, Microsoft Premium DVD 2006 , Yahoo travel & answers. I had already studied the 50 states of USA, Canada, Europe, a little of Australia. Am also studying French through the internet.

maybe combine working with travel.

do you just want a 9-5 job just to make money to survive, or are you interested in doing something that you will enjoy?

if your idea of working is just making some money, then you should definately consider working abroad to finance a continual travel experience.

i worked in a hostel in Ireland, made money enough to survive and god enough time off to travel around a bit too.

good luck!!!
