I heard it's a beautiful place with many natural wonders. But I can't seem to find a lot of information on it. Has anyone ever gone there for vacation? What did you do? How did you book your flight and accomodation? How did you get around while you were there? Any information you have is useful to me, thanks!

nice to hear u r interested on Sarawak, the place is full of natural & heritage, and the peoples are friendly and helpful :)

Kuching has an international airport, there are lot of flights fr Kuala Lumpur, take one and half hour and cost abt RM500-800 (MAS airline) or you may consider budget airline (air asia). there have transit/direct flight fr oversea too but u hv to check with the individual airlines.

the land of sarawak is the biggest in malaysia, almost the same size with west malaysia, therefore is not easy to get around. most of the attraction places around Kuching city will easily take an hour drive, the Mulu cave will take 45min flight fr kuching.

the public transportation is not convenient due to the distant, so is quite difficult to manage your travel time, the better way is to hire a taxi to goes around but its costly. i would suggest you to arrange local day trip with the hotel, tell them where u wish to go, then they will offer several options for you, they are trustable.

dont worry abt accommodation, there are hundred of hotels. here i would suggest 3 most convenient hotels in the heart of Kuching town; Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza or Harbour View. they are situated at the end of the riverside, so you can follow the riverside to the other end which is the Waterfront, then go left to Merdeka field, there is a tourist center and the state museum. this route is the best of kuching town. along the way there are a lot of restaurants and souvenir shops, dont forget to bargain!

so here is where u can go...
in kuching city, there are few places u shouldn't miss. orang utan "Semenggoh Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre" (u need to check the feeding time), the crocodile farm (worth to see) & the Borneo height.

and there are 7 museums u should visit; the old & new state museum in town, the chinese museum at riverside, the islamic museum & timberland museum (cant remember the exact place), the cat museum! u can even find hello kitty & cat woman inside... & the 7th museum sorry cant recall now :)

Beside kuching town, u should visit to Santurbong Damai beach. u can spend a night at the resort Holiday Inn Damai Lagoon. on the way, u can visit the cat museum, timberland museum, Cultural village (worth to see).

while u coming back fr Damai beach, u can spend a day to Bako National Park, but u need to make reservation with them before u visit, they will close when monsoon or heavy rain. there u can see a lot of wildlife; birds, insect & flowers.

in another day, u can visit long house at Batang Ai. there is a shuttle service fr Kuching Hilton to that place, approximately 4 hours drive.

if you want to visit Mulu cave or Niah cave, u need another 3 days and hv to check with the local travel agent for latest informations in kuching.

below are the links that can find more details. i think the fare & times u can check with hotel or airport when u down here. hope u will njoy and good luck :)

Never leave Sarawak without seeing how the locals find and manufacture Bird’s Nest. Is really an eye opener experience to see how Bird's Nest is obtained.

* Seafood is cheap and a lot of variety in Sarawak.
* Shopping complexes are modern as the one in KL and Penang.
