Why is they can advertise magazines which contain barely clothed women on tv but they can't advertise adverts involving food. It's not the kids who buy it.

What do you think?

Also why don't they just ban all adverts, the food ones are the best the rest are crap. The are just trying to control everyone. First ban adverts, then ban the food.

Advertising will never be banned because the same people who advertise on TV pay the TV companies huge amounts of money to do so and also I think that if it were banned you would find your TV license would become even more extortionate than it is at the moment. I do agree however that the type of advertising we are subjected to needs amending as the one you cite is particularly sexist...then again some food adverts can be just as damaging but potentially physically rather than psychologically.

Anyway, if people truly object to advertising then they have the option to not watch TV and instead read a book.

adverts are used to sell products. The imagery used is supposed to give the impression that you will be a better person using Brand X as opposed to anything else. e.g If Nothing acts faster than Anadin why don't more people take nothing??
These adverts are dreamed up by overpaid people who'd have to get a real job if all adverts were banned

I don't have a problem with naked people, it's how we are. As far as adverts are concerned, they try to persuade you to buy things from them. They do this by firstly making you feel inferior and then telling you how their product will change that.

Grown ups are supposed to be mature, so they're fair game. But when advertisers deliberately manipulate children to buy their unhealthy, salt and fat laden rubbish, that's just out of order.

The biggest killer in this country is heart disease, not terrorism and we should remember that.

Adverts are flipping annoying especially in the middle of your tv programme. The food ones were the only good ones through.

Ok they ban all adverts on tv. but then put up the price of the TV licence so that it includes all tv channels not just BBC.

i can put up with the ads, but the tv licence is just so out of date with todays broardcasting.

we pay once for the tv, then every year for owning it, then if we want sky or cable channels we pay for those as well....

i'm not sure your question is valid. i'd rather put up with the ads and get rid of all the no need charges and just pay for the channels i want. NOT the tv licence bbc idea rip off, for the crap no ads bbc chanels.

Junk food is bad for me.
Junk food is worse for my children.
I have to disagree with a previous speaker - magazines depicting barely clothed young women can be extremely bad for you, I walked into a lamp post outside a news stand whilst looking at the cover of one and had a bruise on the side of my head for ages!!!

The ones that really get my back up are the cosmetic adverts.

If you use our mascara it will make you lashes grow???

Sorry but every time I see one of these adverts I scream at the TV "she's got bloody fake eye lashes on!!!" Its false advertising!!!!!
And also the models they use should be put into a clinic for eating disorders!!

Ban the lot. :o)

Working as a Creative (yes, that's what we're called) in advertising, I have to say I agree with you. Sorry there's so much rubbish out there interrupting your programmes. Believe me, though, it's not always our fault. We try our best to write good, entertaining (and believe it or not, often intelligent or thought provoking or challenging) ads for you consumers, but (due to clients usually) they don't always turn out that way! (I wrote a killer campaign for Kinder Bueno a month ago but the client binned it because he thought it was too cerebral!) Don't lose faith in us, please!
