When I was....probaly around 8 weeks pregnant, I started spotting too after sex, and I called my ob 2 times and both times she said that it was fine, unless I was cramping and bleeding alot. Then after the 3rd time of this happening I got really scared and went and saw my ob, and she did an ultrasound that showed that the baby was fine, but my placenta was low lying and when I would have sex, it would aggravate my placenta, because it was so low and make me bleed. She advised me to not have sex for 6 weeks, I think and hopefully my placenta would move up in my uterous to prevent future problems, and it did. Within the 6 weeks, my placenta moved where it needed to be and I never had any other problems after that. I'm 24 weeks along now. Take care and good luck!

I'm responding because I see most people said that the cervix being sensitive could have caused the bleeding. While that is one explanation my midwife also gave me another. I'm at 11 weeks right now and last week I had slight spotting after manual stimulation. I did not have intercourse that night (my poor husband was too tired) so I just had clitorial stimulation. I woke up during the night and had some spotting. First thing in the morning I called my midwife, she said that the contractions from orgasm may have caused the spotting. She sent me for an ultrasound to ease my fears and make sure that the baby was okay. The baby looked great on ultrasound and the midwife told me to call her if i had bleeding again especially if it's heavy. Hope this offers an alternative explanation for you.

Your fine. I freaked like that too. The cervix gets engorged with blood when your pg and sex can make it bleed some. Just try to take it easy next time but there's no reason to not have sex at this point. My "spotting" with this one got a little heavier than I thought it should and I went into the dr and everything was fine. As long as your not bleeding and soaking a pad your OK.

I have a friend that had bleeding the first few months of her pregnancy and went to the hospital because it was heavy bleeding.... She turned out to be fine. I would call your doctor just to make sure everything is okay and to set your mind at ease. Also, it is completely fine to have sex until you give birth!! My doctor told me that in the ninth month, if you have sex, it helps with the labor process and it is fine to continue having sex... Especially since after birth you can't have sex for 6 weeks!!!

YES!!! My doctor told me that the reason that I started bleeding was because his genital did not go in correctly. But then again everybody is different. To be sure don't forget to comment it with your doctor. Heres a web site so you could ask also. BEST OF LUCK.

Spotting can be normal, as long as it isn't really heavy.
If it is anything more than a few spots, get it checked immediately.
I would ask your ob/gyn at your next appointment just to be sure that there are no complications.

Spotting after sex or a vaginal exam is perfectly normal! I spotted a little after every time. As long as it doesn't last for more than a day, it's fine and COMPLETELY normal! Good Luck!

It is always best to call your OB/GYN, but it is usually just the cervix being irritated. It becomes engorged with blood and is very sensitive during pregnancy. My OB told me when that happened to me to not have sex for 2 weeks.
