Tell your best friend that this guy wants to go out with you and ask her if it would hurt her feelings or make her mad. If not, go ahead and if so, you could tell her that you really like him and that you will just tell him that it would hurt her feelings. She probably would say it's ok to save your friendship.

Talk to your friend, it sounds like you are interested in him as well or you wouldn't be asking this question. How important is the friendship to you? How long could you see the relationship with this guy lasting? If you are young, chances are there will be other guys that will come along. Do you want to hurt your relationship with your friend over a guy? The first thing she is going to say to you is "You knew I liked him" and her feelings will be hurt. Does the guy know that she likes him that way? It's not like she would be able to hang out with you guys and feel comfortable. Just some food for thought. If you like him though and he likes you, you need to communicate with her about it. Be up front and honest. It's gonna hurt her either way but... at least you will have been a good friend by telling her the truth and if she gets angry with you explain that you came to her so that your friendship didn't suffer because of it. You care enough about her to tell her the truth even if it hurts and that is an admirable quality that not too many people have. You might be able to say something in the way of "I know you are really interested in ________ but I want you to know that I found out that he is interested in me and my feelings on that are that I am interested in getting to know him better. I didn't want to hurt you so I wanted to come to you and tell you how I was feeling about it.

If your girlfriend told you she liked him before he told you that he wants to be with you, you need to talk to her and if she's ok with it, then go out with him, if she's not, back off. Its not worth fighting over a guy, but if you like him, its worth talking to her about it, you never know, she may be over it or not really care enough. In your conversation though you should let her know you would never date him without her consent as she liked him. If you both liked him and you made that aware to her at the same time she made it aware to you, then still you need to talk to her. Things may be difficult for a while, but probably ok in the end. Most importantly remember that I said no guy is worth fighting over with a friend. As they come and go but your friends last longer.

You should not go for the guy, even if you like him. Give it time and if it is meant to be then your paths will cross at a better time. Now you should be a loyal friend and not go after the guy she likes.

I think it depends on him .He must choose one of you and even you ignore his attention and avoid being his friend wouldnt make him to go after your best friend .He's interested in you and neither you nor your friend can change his mind.
But if you think this will hurt your friends feeling ,just for get about the guy ,but tell ur friend about it.

You should ask your friend if it's okay with her to go out with him, so it won't ruin the friendship, or just leave him alone
