I can tell you that you will never see a dog walk in a forest,they ALWAYS run,with the exception when ,for a setter that will creep sometimes before it stands.

untill he gets tired,
you did not say into ,then it would be half way and then half way out .
but just walking in the forrest he can walk around and around ,but he will also be running
