Breast milk is obviously the best choice, but if that is not an option for you, there are several choices. If you are on WIC, or can afford the name brand, I think Enfamil Lipil is the best. But, the store brand that compares to Enfamil is just as good in my opinion. I used Enfamil with my first 2 children, then recently found that the same company that makes Enfamil also makes several of the store brand formula. Now, I use the store brands with my 3rd baby. From my exprience, Target and Wal-Mart have some of the easiest formula to mix, but I also use Kroger and Publix brand. It's all pretty much the same!!

People have to remember that breast feeding is not always an option for everyone, due to different circumstances. I was someone who was unable to physically do so, others may choose not to, all babies are healthy. All you breast feeding fanatics, perhaps your opinions are better stated elsewhere.

Infant formulas MUST pass the FDA to be deemed nutritious, therefore, the money that you are paying is for the brand name. No name formulas are just as nutritious as brand name, just much less expensive. Babies might be fussy on the taste as they do taste different. My son was never fussy so he takes Parent's Choice for Walmart (it actually tastes better than Enfamil A+, to me anyway). How do I know this information? I am a pediatric nurse and I have spoken to a pediatric dietician on this matter.

My son had to be on Soy formula and I found that he did better on Walmart's Parent's Choice than on any of the more expensive brands. It has all the same stuff, but almost half the price. Just make sure that whatever brand you use that it contains ARA/DHA...for brain development.

I wasn't able to breast feed, so I fed my daughter Similac Advance and also later changed to Enfamil. The Enfamil mixed better and didn't foam up as much as the Similac. Until she was about 4 months old, she had to have the soy formula, because it didn't bother her tummy as bad. But, I would suggest talking to your pediatrician about it.

Mine has done well the past year on Enfamil Lipil. The shiny one.
