It was after Clark Kent had grown up and assumed the Superman identity.

Keep in mind the history of the publication of the golden-age heroes in the pre-WWII era. Superman was the first in 1938, then Batman in 1939, with Captain Marvel, Green Lantern the Flash in 1940. Wonder Woman was first introduced in 1941 to a comic-book universe already populated with mighty male characters, to break the mold. She was a founding member of both the Justice Society of America in the 1940's and the 1960's version of the Justice League of America, which is the one most people think of.

The problem is back then heroes were simply introduced in different titles, and the storylines there didn't necessarily match what was going on in other publications- continuity was a mess. DC eventually got around this by coming up with the idea of a multiverse, so different heroes occupied different parallel versions of Earth (so the WWII versions of heroes like the JSA were still alive today but in a parallel world- the timeline where a young clark became Superboy before ever moving to Metropolis was another parallel earth etc, but that solution was arrived at decades later.

In 2003 DC released a 3-book minseries called "Trinity" which retells how Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman first met. It's great reading and probably as close as you'll get to a definitive answer.

But nothing is entirely authoritative, since there were so many variants of their histories going back to the Golden Age, and in the early 1980s DC comics reset everything and rewrote everyone's pasts as a result of the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" series, and then again with Zero Hour in the 1990's and Infinite Crisis last year. With all the history that has "un-happened" it's impossible to say.

The idea of showing heroe's early years is popular today (just look at the Smallville TV series, where everyone seems to have met in their teens and early 20s) but that's not how they were originally introduced.

So for their first meeting I say read Trinity, and go with that :)

If you're interested in how things wind up in the future, I highly recommend "Kingdom Come" by Alex Ross.

In the Legends series, it was established that it was after he became Superman, and moved to Metropolis. The Legends series was the retcon basis for the Silver Age Justice League.

I apologize for cherish the day's ignorance. obviously she doesn't know that Allah and God are the same God. Surely you also know that the Kuran states that Muslims are to treat Christians and Jews as brothers because they all believe in the same God. Also, the United States was similar in its theocratic tendencies throughout its history. You should take a step back and look at what the real problem is. It's your ignorance. Read the Kuran and some other historical texts so you can understand the people you share this planet with before you decide to wage a "holy war."
